Central venous blood gas and acid-base status in conscious dogs and cats

چکیده
To determine the reference level of central venous oxygen saturation (ScvO2) and clinical efficacy of central venous blood gas analysis, partial pressures of oxygen and carbon dioxide, pH, oxygen saturation, base excess (B.E.) and HCO3 concentration were compared between simultaneously obtained central venous and arterial blood samples from conscious healthy 6 dogs and 5 cats. Comparisons between arteriovenous samples were performed by a paired t-test and Bland-Altman analysis. Between arteriovenous samples, B.E. showed good agreement, but there were significant differences in other parameters in the dogs, and no good agreement was detected in cats. The ScvO2 in dogs and cats were 82.3 ± 3.5 and 62.4 ± 13.5%, respectively. Central venous blood gas analysis is indispensable, especially in cats.

Blood gas and acid-base status of conscious pigs subjected to fixed-volume hemorrhage and resuscitated with hypertonic saline dextran.
Conscious, chronically instrumented pigs were subjected to a progressive, fixed-volume hemorrhage (37.5 ml/kg over 1 h) and subsequent resuscitation with 7.5% hemorrhage (37.5 ml/kg over 1 h) and subsequent resuscitation with 7.5% NaCl/6% Dextran 70 (4 ml/kg). Hemorrhage led to increases in arterial PO2, HbO2, plasma lactate, base deficit, and mixed venous PCO2. It led to decreases in arterial ...

Twenty-seven patients in cardiopulmonary arrest had simultaneous measurements of arterial and central venous blood gases during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) with a pneumatic chest comparison and ventilation device. Mean central venous and arterial hydrogen ion concentrations, PCO2 and calculated bicarbonate concentrations were significantly different (P less than 0.01) at all sampling ti...

Objectives-The aims of this study were evaluation the effects of blood laser irradiation on hemodynamic parameters, the amount of anesthetic drugs in maintenance of anesthesia and duration of recovery. Animals- Fifteen mixed breed dogs Procedures- dogs (25.0 ± 3.6 kg) were divided into three groups (n=5). The group I was acted as control and received only cold laser. The group II was premedicat...
متن کاملPeripheral and Central Venous Blood Glucose Concentrations in Dogs and Cats with Acute Arterial Thromboembolism
BACKGROUND Acute limb paralysis because of arterial thromboembolism (ATE) occurs in cats and less commonly in dogs. ATE is diagnosed based on physical examination findings and, occasionally, advanced imaging. HYPOTHESIS/OBJECTIVES Peripheral, affected limb venous glucose concentration is decreased in ATE, whereas its systemic concentration is within or above reference interval. ANIMALS Clie...
متن کاملAgreement between central venous and arterial blood gas measurements in the intensive care unit.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Venous blood gas (VBG) analysis is a safer procedure than arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis and may be an alternative for determining acid-base status. The objective of this study was to examine the agreement between ABG and central VBG samples for all commonly used parameters in a medical intensive care unit (ICU) population. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASURE...
